Technology consulting & community programs

The leverage behind the mission.

Palanca is a New Orleans technology practice that serves the organizations doing the hardest work in the city — nonprofits, churches, small schools, and mission-aligned small businesses — and runs free community technology programs in the neighborhoods where access is scarcest.

What Palanca means

A lever. A tradition of support. A commitment to place.

The lever

Palanca is Spanish for lever. A small input, applied at the right point, produces a large output. That is the business model and the reason for the name.

The tradition

In the Jesuit Kairos retreat tradition, a palanca is a letter of support given at a critical moment. The word carries both meanings — mechanical leverage and generous support — into everything Palanca does.

The place

Palanca is a Greater New Orleans practice. The Spanish name reflects the city's multilingual inheritance and signals the business's local focus: work delivered where it is most needed, by a team grounded here.

More about Palanca

The signature artifact

Every engagement closes with a Lift Report.

A four-page plain-English document — what was stuck, what we changed, what's now possible — printed, signed, and delivered in person in a branded folder. Something an Executive Director can show a board. Something a sponsor can attach to an impact report. Something the organization can hold in their hands.
